The watch's nickname comes from the trajectory of its 240-degree sub-dials, resembling a scorpion's tail poised to pounce. This symbolism is also reflected in the shape of the retrograde minute hand.

This technological feat is achieved through a speed regulator mounted on the UR-150 flywheel, a device typically used to regulate the striking sequence of minute repeaters. The watch is powered by the UR-50.01 automatic movement, oscillating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a 43-hour power reserve.

The automatic winding system features two sets of turbines designed to absorb shocks to the rotor, preventing them from affecting the shaft.
